Monthly Personal Mini-Projects Challenging Your Capabilities & Perspectives to Build Resilience

Every month receive 4 workouts, tasks and challenges that supplement any existing routines. Defeat your bullshit self-talk and unlock new possibility through skill development, challenging workouts, and an awesome community.

You Want More From Yourself

You’re a high achiever and know you’re capable of more. You feel it in your heart & spirit, but your Mind’s Mind is holding you back. You see others succeeding, achieving what you desire, and feel in some way just short of achieving that same sort of success. The ‘mindset solutions’ we are currently being peddled simply break down and fall short when being applied in reality or during challenging situations.

The Hard Way Project takes lessons from the Battlefield & Ballfield and makes them applicable to the Boardroom & Breakfast Table.

Unlock the aspirations & potential you have deep inside. Live with Possibility.

TARGETED SKILL DEVELOPMENT

No theoretical bullshit. The skills presented are built around a career of military service, ultra-endurance adventures, & tackling extreme challenges. The mindset strategies presented have been repeatedly put to the test and are used daily across all areas in life.

OPPORTUNITIES PUT INTO PRACTICE

Conceptual learning is important, but true value lies within practical application. The Hard Way Project builds these opportunities through 2 workouts, 1 grueling challenge, and an awareness / habit activity every month. All building upon each other in a methodical, growth oriented manner.

A COMMUNITY OF HIGH ACHIEVERS

You are a product of who you surround yourself with. Surround yourself with a global community of high achievers who aren’t satisfied with mediocrity. We push ourselves in how we think & act - Perform; collectively through a virtual community and at in person events to achieve a greater possibility.

Meet Your Guide

Brian “tosh” Chontosh

I've been exactly in your shoes. I've struggled with the journey to reach a greater self; someone who wants & believes I can do better. I wrestle with self-doubt and a desire to escape being a simple passenger in life.

But every time I’ve struggled or fallen short of expectations, I learn and incorporate lessons into strategies for my next endeavor. This helps me suck less a little bit each next time, increasing my capabilities, confidence and moving what’s possible a little further forward.

I've leveraged these lessons to train others. I've trained Marines for combat, world-champion boxers for the ring, CrossFit Games athletes seeking an edge, and regular folks that just want to be better every day.

My approach works - in every aspect of life. Period.

I don’t do this to build a list of accomplishments or feel good accolades, I do it to help others achieve their dreams. Below are some linked videos, podcasts & social media pieces that are representative of a much larger body of work to provide perspective.

  • THWP makes me mentally stronger. I use it as an accessory to my normal CrossFit routine in order to push my boundaries, and it reinforces that I am capable of so much more.

    Natalie M., Utah

  • Let’s be honest, if you don’t have someone else programming your challenges, then you risk playing to your strengths and limiting your growth potential. THWP will push on your weak points, and teach you how to push through them.

    Brista Mayfield

  • I’m over 60 now, and I’m nowhere close to done. THWP proves to me that so many limitations are simply in my head.

    Brian Yolitz, Minnesota

  • THWP trains your mind to go beyond what you thought was possible. I know a lot of people in better shape than me, but they don’t achieve as much as me on the field, because they give up mentally before the body is ready to quit.

    David P., Texas

There’s a voice in your head, constantly, subtly holding you back

I call it the Mind’s Mind. Let me show you how to keep it in check.

That alluring voice in the back of your head… giving you permission to do something that, you full well know in your best aware & rational state, is not in alignment with your heart’s achievement. It is trying to convince you to let yourself down; only to be realized after the fact.

The Mind’s Mind is constantly working against you; more precisely, the best endeavored you. It’s hard wired for survival, safety & comfort and it is always trying to optimize convenience. Our society is insidiously persuading us to grow dependent on mediocrity; to become passengers in our lives. Even though we know this, our best attempts to protect against it fall short.

Resist victimhood. Let’s put the Mind’s Mind back in proper balance. Learn the skills & habits to become your greater self and achieve beyond mediocrity.

Frequently asked questions about The Hard Way Project

Do you offer a money back guarantee?

The stuff I teach works. I’ve seen the proof manifest itself with hundreds of people I’ve coached from all walks of life. Plus, I give you an opportunity to check it out for yourself with a free trial before you need to commit. But if you put in the work and still feel like this isn’t for you, then I don’t want your money. Email us at admin@crookedbutterfly.com and we will refund you.

Should I use The Hard Way Project as my primary workout routine?

The purpose of THWP is to supplement your existing routines, to layer in something that goes well beyond what you normally subject your physical and mental capacity towards. If you are looking for robust monthly workout routines, we recommend our friends at Street Parking or CrossFit Linchpin for at-home workout options, or search for your local CrossFit affiliate.

Should I do The Hard Way Project if I haven’t exercised before or I haven’t worked out in a long time?

I would not recommend it. Build a base level of fitness capacity first, then join us once you’ve got a couple months of consistency under your belt. And I always recommend speaking with your doctor before beginning any form of physical exercise, preferably one that understands the value of fitness towards a long and enjoyable life.

Do I have to do CrossFit in order to do The Hard Way Project?

No. We have people in the program that have never done CrossFit before in their lives. I come from a CrossFit background, and hence movements and concepts within the workouts will be more familiar to those who have done CrossFit before, but if you’ve ever picked up something heavy before, or gone for a hike or a run or a bike ride, you will be just fine.

Do I need a bunch of equipment to do The Hard Way Project?

You will need access to some standard pieces of equipment to get the most from the program. If you belong to a CrossFit gym, everything you will need is there. If you are working out at home, we commonly leverage the following equipment:

Do you offer any discounts to The Hard Way Project?

We don’t offer a discount to The Hard Way Project. Veterans are eligible for a scholarship to a Diesel Day program courtesy of the Big Fish Foundation. Check out more information about Diesel Days here.
